It’s ages since my last update

Life has been very busy, as in Sam hasn’t been sleeping that well for a while which knocks out evenings on the computer.  Also he has learnt to climb on to the table and turn the laptop off, since he deleted 6 emails from my Crafty Kitten account a few weeks ago I haven’t dared to use the computer if he is up and about!  However, he is taking the occasional lunch-time nap on his own in bed so I thought I’d sneak an update in now while he is asleep!

While I’ve been away from the blog things have changed, 1 and 1 have migrated their blogs fully over to wordpress, hence the new look.  I still haven’t replaced the pictures that were ‘lost’ when Webshots closed, but I will get around to it at some point I hope!

I’m still lacking stitching updates.  Hopefully at some point in the future i’ll get the chance to pick up a needle again.  I’m getting an ever increasing list of things I ‘must’ stitch plus all the WiPs that I already have (the perils of having a huge pile of charts and unlimited fabric at my fingertips!).  I have however managed to make a few cards.  The first is an Easter card I made for my parents.  It is a stamped image from Hunkydory stamp set coloured with Sakura pens and distress inks used as water colours.  The flowers, leaves and swirl all came from the same Spellbinders die set, whose name escapes me at the moment, if anyone really wants to know which set it was let me know and I’ll dig them out and check.

Easter 2013

The other two cards were for Mothers Day, which fell last month in the UK.  mothers day 1 2013For the first I embossed a piece of peachy pink pealescent paper and using a glue pen coloured in one of the butterflies and topped it with glitter.  Then using the Spellbinders Moroccan Accents die set I cut 3 different shapes out of white card and inked them while they were still in their dies.  On the largest one I stamped a tree from a Kanban stamp set I have.  I then put it all together using a piece of silver mirri as a mat on the white card, and finished it off with some gems and a little silver butterfly that I found in my stash.Mothers day 2 2013

The second card was simpler using elements from a Hunkydory set.  The base is a piece of taupe card topped with a piece of adorable scorable that matched the topper was planning on using.  I then took the matching topper and offset the frames for interest, and added a small sentiment from the same set.  I finished the card with a few self adhesive gems.  They’re both quite different cards from each other but I’m really happy with the way that they turned out.

I still have a pile of other cards to upload, including the ones from last Christmas (it’s getting a bit late for those!) plus a card I made for my fathers birthday in February.  I will try not to leave it quite so long before I update the blog again, and cross your fingers for some stitching pictures at some point!
